Nara Chandrababu Naidu, usually known as Chandrababu Naidu or CBN, is a politician from India currently the Leader of the Opposition in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. In the former Andhra Pradesh, Naidu served as Chief Minister from 1995 to 2004 and Opposition Leader from 2004 to 2014.

While obtaining his master’s degree, Naidu began his political career as a student union leader at Sri Venkateswara University. In 1975, he joined the Indian Youth Congress and was elected president of the Pulicherla chapter. After the country was declared an emergency in 1975, he supported Sanjay Gandhi.

He was active in national politics during the time (1996-2004) when non-Congress coalition politics ruled Delhi. Following the 1996 legislative elections, he was appointed convenor of the United Front, a coalition of 13 political parties that seized power at the Centre.

He has two younger sisters and a younger brother named Nara Ramamurthy Naidu. Naidu suffers from vitiligo, an autoimmune disorder that develops white patches on the skin.

Naidu attended primary education in Seshapuram up to class five and Chandragiri Government High School up to class ten because his town did not have a school. In 1972, he received his B.A. from Sri Venkateswara Arts College in Tirupati.

He attended Sri Venkateswara University for his master’s degree in economics. Under the supervision of Professor Dr. D. L. Narayana, he began work on his Ph.D. on the topic of Economic concepts in 1974.
