Bailey himself became a celebrity who exemplified “swinging London”; he was known for his affairs with various celebrated women, among them the model Jean Shrimpton and the actress Catherine Deneuve, whom he married in 1965 and divorced in 1972.
It is believed that he served as the model for the character of Thomas, the photographer, in the film Blow-up (1966), directed by Michelangelo Antonioni.
