Friends actor Matthew Perry’s cause of death has been disclosed after news of his death shocked his international audience.

The beloved comedy performer died at the age of 54 ‘after drowning in his jacuzzi at home,’ according to DailyMail.com.

According to law enforcement officials, the actor was discovered at a residence in Los Angeles on Saturday after first responders were summoned to the location for a cardiac arrest. 

According to the Los Angeles Times, officers arrived at his residence at 4 p.m., when he was discovered unresponsive. 

According to a source, there were no signs of foul play, and robbery-homicide investigators are looking into his death. 

Earlier this week, the actor published photographs of himself in his pool on Instagram, writing, ‘Oh, so warm water whirling around makes you feel good? ‘My name is Mattman.’

Perry has been open about his drug and alcohol issues, having initially entered treatment in 1997 for what was described as a pain medicine addiction following a jet skiing accident. 

Following this initial stay, he returned to treatment in 2001 and 2011.

‘Everyone is in a terrible state of shock,’ said a close friend of Perry’s who was in recovery with him. People are weeping over the phone, unable to grasp the news.
