Maurice scored the winning touchdown with a five-yard run during the second overtime of the 2003 ‘Tostitos Fiesta Bowl’ on January 3, 2003, as the ‘Buckeyes’ defeated the ‘Miami Hurricanes.’ 

After Ahman Green of the ‘University of Nebraska-Lincoln,’ he became the first freshman to emerge as the leading rusher on a national championship team. Ahman Green accomplished the feat in 1995.

Maurice excelled as a player, but owing to his terrible behavior and other troubles, he could not become a worldwide star. 

Beginning in 2002, he struggled with concerns such as drinking and depression. During his stay at ‘Ohio State University,’ he was embroiled in several issues. 

In December 2002, he openly misbehaved with and defamed authorities of ‘Ohio State University,’ resulting in his departure from Ohio State.
