Nathan Van Hooydonck Accident has his fans worried as he was forced to withdraw from professional cycling owing to cardiac problems caused by the accident.

Nathan Van Hooydonck is a former Belgian road cyclist who raced professionally for BMC Racing Team and Team Jumbo-Visma from 2017 to 2023.

He was chosen to the start list for the 2019 Vuelta an Espaa in August 2019. In 2021, he competed in his second Vuelta, his first for Team Jumbo-Visma. He rode in support of the race winner, Primo Rogli. He was appointed to the Tour de France team in 2022 and played a crucial role. 

Van Hooydonck was one of the team’s significant domestics, competing for stage wins, jerseys, and the Tour de France alongside Rogli, Jonas Vingegaard, and Wout van Aert. Due to personal reasons, he had to withdraw from the race just two stages before the finish.

Nathan Van Hooydonck Injury 

Nathan Van Hooydonck (Jumbo-Visma) was forced to withdraw from cycling due to heart difficulties after receiving an internal defibrillator (ICD) following a significant vehicle accident on September 12.

The ICD was implanted to address probable future cardiac arrhythmias after Van Hooydonck discovered a heart muscle defect that caused him to lose control of his car last Tuesday and nearly killed him.

The 27-year-old Belgian was permitted to return home from the University Hospital of Antwerp, and the team reported that he is “doing well under the circumstances.”

When driving in Kalmthout, north of Antwerp, with his pregnant wife in the passenger seat, he became ill and crashed into other vehicles.

Despite being brought to the hospital, his wife was happily unharmed, and his Jumbo-Visma teammates were later notified that he was “awake and relatively Alright” after stage 16 of the Vuelta an Espaa.
